Preparation helps you arrive with a lighter body and a more stable mind. Many discomforts during ceremony are physiological, due to an overloaded system. Think of it as a detox that significantly improves the quality of the ceremony.
Strongly reduce exposure to screens, Netflix, Instagram, TikTok. Favour calm activities: reading, writing, nature.
Digital overstimulation keeps dopamine and cortisol levels high. Less external noise allows you to hear more clearly what is happening within.
Alcohol disrupts deep sleep, emotional regulation, and the central nervous system. Stepping away allows you to arrive with more clarity and openness.
In many traditions, red meat is associated with a dense energy tied to survival. Reducing it helps you become more receptive to subtler states. Many indigenous Amazonian traditions avoid red meat — following this is also a way of respecting their medicine.
Remove cereals, legumes, seeds, and nuts. Focus on protein, fruits, and vegetables. Simplifying your diet reduces digestive inflammation and limits discomfort during the ceremony.
Avoid conflict and overly stimulating environments. What you experience in the days before often continues to process during the ceremony.
Avoid protein; if needed, have only eggs for breakfast. Focus on fruits and vegetables. Lightening the body makes you more available for the experience.
Do not eat in the 10 hours leading up to the ceremony. An empty stomach reduces nausea and allows for faster absorption. Fasting marks a transition and creates a more open inner space.
Drink water, electrolytes, coconut water, and possibly fruit juices. The ceremony is highly dehydrating.
Take a moment to clarify why you are coming. Avoid overly specific expectations — the medicine responds to what is ready to be seen. Arriving with a clear yet open intention allows for greater emotional stability and better integration.
